Storage & Shelving
The
furniture you incorporate into your bathroom design need not
echo the fully fitted look of the kitchen, although there
are many options to do so. A more economic and practical alternative
is to select either freestanding or modular pieces, which
work well independently of each other or combined with other
units – it may appear like a run of furniture but is
much easier to install.
Freestanding or modular storage units, which
stand on the floor, sit on top of other units or fix to the
wall offer lots of flexibility since they can be positioned
in places, which suit you. Many have useful features like
pull-out laundry baskets, cosmetic drawers and integrated
towel rails, as well as incorporating shelving and mirror
doors. Shallow units also make it easier to find items that
would otherwise get lost at the back of a deeper cupboard.
There are many different options available
in terms of size, shape and design so it’s best to take
a bit of time to find exactly what you need. Wherever possible
find units which are in proportion to the size of the room
and which leave as little dead space as possible – this
will only end up as a dumping ground or a dust trap, so avoid
it if you can.
Heritage offer a good range of storage units including base units with drawers, and wall cabinets with open shelving and mirror doors, in contemporary shaker or slab door styles, or in a traditional style as shown here.
