Pedestal Sinks
Pedestal sinks are the most practical and straightforward
sinks to install, and chances are it's the type of sink you
currently have in your bathroom.
Belmonte
The tall horseshoe-shape leg the sink rests on acts not only
as a support to the sink, but also to conceal the plumbing
to the taps and waste.
The pedestal however need not just be functional; with interesting
shapes and lines it can also link with the overall design
of your bathroom suite.
In more modern designs the conventional ceramic leg may
be formed in one piece with the basin, or be replaced entirely
by a slim chrome pillar. You can see here how the pedestal
of this Heritage Belmonte suite matches in with the design
of the sink and toilet,
to form a continous theme throughout the bathroom.
Shapes
for pedestal basins vary from the conventional round or oval
bowl shape to more modern rectangular or even semi-circular
shapes, but an average size would be around 55-65cm wide.
The sink may have an upright piece or upstand behind the taps or be flat and even all the way back, include moulded soapdishes or be very plain and simple. It's all down to a question of
taste and budget, as well as size and practicality, which
will help you decide on the right basin for you.
